INVEST IN YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE

The days of a glass sitting on your nightstand filled with a pair of dentures are long gone. With today’s new technology and Dr. Sullivan’s continued commitment to continuing education, we can now replace missing teeth or secure dentures with an easy, permanent solution: Dental Implants.

Permanent? Absolutely! Dental implants are permanent. Placed directly and painlessly into the bone of the jaw, over a few months your bone actually gently fuses into the implant, giving you a new “root” and the security that comes with it, halting the natural disintegration that begins the moment a tooth is removed from your jaw while also offering a stable base for a permanent restoration. Dental implants are stronger than the tooth roots they replace and create the perfect foundation for us to create a beautiful, completely natural-looking crown or permanent denture, allowing your

Dental implants even allow us to incorporate other technologies – like crowns and bridges – into an otherwise hopeless or complicated treatment plan. Even better, because they become a permanent fixture of your jaw bone, your face and smile stays intact. With traditional dentures, it is inevitable that within a year or so your jaw (particularly the lower jaw) will begin to collapse inwards – a result of the loss of your tooth structure that acts as a natural foundation for the more porous jaw bone. That means that no matter how beautiful a denture looks and no matter how closely we mimic nature, in the end a denture won’t fit well, won’t function well and your face will suffer the consequences. Not to mention your appetite.

The good news is that dental implants can reverse a lot of the consequences of missing teeth, and mitigate them before they even appear. And all very easily and affordably, all right here at Smiles4Oregon.

So if you have missing teeth – and therefore a “missing” smile – give us a call! We like nothing more than restoring smiles, and thereby restoring lives.

WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Dental Implants serve as a safe and permanent alternative to traditional removable dentures or to replace missing teeth for those who have suffered the loss of teeth due to dental extractions and oral surgery, periodontal disease, dental injury, or various other reasons. A dental implant, which is made of titanium, is placed into your jaw to add stability and serve as a base for your restorations, whether for an upper or lower denture or for a missing tooth or teeth. Once placed, Dental Implants naturally fuse into your bone, and the result is actually stronger than your natural tooth roots ever were, and permanent. Once a Dental Implant is installed and has had enough time to fuse into the bone - typically between three and six months - a small connector called an abutment is placed to hold and support the new artificial tooth (a crown) or your denture. At Smiles4Oregon, all our restorations - including implant supported dentures and crowns - are custom-made to match the look and feel of your natural teeth and finally bring your smile back to life. The end result is a full, natural-looking permanent smile that will give you the confidence to be your best self again and smile forward.

ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS RIGHT FOR ME?

In most cases, we’re able to place implants without hesitation once the extraction site has healed, and the sooner we do the better long term stability your entire mouth will have. Every time you lose a tooth, the loss of the root leaves a literal hole in your jaw bone, and over time the loss of stability not only affects the structure of the jaw bone itself - leading to inevitably and otherwise unstoppable erosion - but also affects the dynamics of the rest of your teeth and mouth, setting you up for further tooth loss as well as for decay as your teeth move and settle. The result is that given enough time (anything longer than a year) your entire oral health and smile start to become compromised. So our first task is to determine whether your jaw bone has the strength and stability to accept a Dental Implant and hold a restoration. Luckily, if you’ve experienced too much bone loss there are solutions to bring your bone strength and stability back, and Dr. John Sullivan of Smiles4Oregon will talk with you, examine your teeth and work with you to come up with a plan that will work for you.
